Belcanto & Verismo Week 2025

OperUs is proud to announce the first edition of our Belcanto & Verismo Week (Trieste, Italy, July 14th-20th 2025).

This 7-day intensive program will bring participating young artists on an in-depth tour of the Italian composers of the 19th and 20th century.

Training program

Participants will receive coachings in Italian operatic repertoire, with a free choice among works by Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo and Mascagni. Italian phonetics and diction tuition from a native speaking coach will also be central to the program.

Final concert

All participants will have the opportunity to perform in a final concert at the Sala Bobi Bazlen in the beautiful and historic Palazzo Gopcevich, Trieste with invited guests and open to the public. The recital will also be streamed live on our social media in order to share the performance internationally.

1) Application details

  • EU Citizens: February 1st 2025

  • Non EU Citizens: January 31st 2025

The above deadlines are a final date; however, OperUs will review applications as soon as it receives them, and places will be assigned as suitable applicants are identified so we reccommend early application for the best chance of being selected. Please note  that the deadline for non-EU citizens is earlier to allow time for travel arrangements as well as visa processing when necessary. Applications are open to classical singers over the age of 18. There is no upper age limit.

Tuition fees are payable in up to 3 installments.

4) Frequently asked questions

​

  • Are accommodation and food included in the tuition fee?

 

Accommodation and food are not included, however, OperUs maintains a list of good local accommodation options for students and participants on our courses and will be happy to put successful applicants in contact with suitable places on request. Trieste also has affordable food and necessities compared to most large European cities and we will likewise be glad to provide details of suggested restaurants, caterers and supermarkets. 

 

  • Are there any scholarships?

​

Unfortunately we are unable to offer scholarships for singers, however tuition fees can be paid in up to 3 installments

 

  • What language will lessons be held in? 

 

Lessons and rehearsals will be run bilingually (English-Italian) thanks to our fully bilingual staff body. Prior knowledge of the Italian language is therefore not required.

  • Are there any age limits to apply?

 

Applications are open to all over-18s and there is no upper age limit.
