4) FAQ SECTION

- Are accommodation and food included in the tuition fee?

Accommodation and food are not included, however, OperUs can offer all participants an exclusive deal on reduced-price accommodation at Hotello Trieste https://www.hotello.space/. Trieste also has affordable food and necessities compared to most large European cities and we will be glad to provide details of suggested restaurants, caterers and supermarkets.

- Are there any scholarships?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer scholarships, however tuition fees can be paid in monthly installments from the date of enrollment

- What language will lessons be held in?

Lessons and rehearsals will be run bilingually (English-Italian) thanks to our fully bilingual staff body. Prior knowledge of the Italian language is therefore not required.

- How many casts are there?

There are two main casts who will each sing one performance of Le Nozze di Figaro, plus a cover for every role. Please note that the roles of Barbarina and Antonio will each be sung by one singer for both casts, and that the main cast Barbarina will cover the role of Susanna, while the main cast Antonio will cover the role of Figaro.

What tuition do covers get?

Covers will receive the same number of coachings as main cast singers and will participate in rehearsals, career development seminars and photoshoots. They will attend the masterclasses as auditors and will join Italian classes alongside main cast members. While they may go on to perform in the event of a main cast member becoming ill or otherwise indisposed, please note that participation in the final performance is not guaranteed for covers (except cover Susanna and cover Figaro in their main cast roles as Barbarina and Antonio).

- Will I get to audition for an agent?

Yes, thanks to our collaboration with several agencies, all cast members will have the opportunity to meet and sing for one of them.

What job opportunities can I get out of the experience?

A role debut at the OperUs Opera Studio 2024 is an ideal professional credit to add to a CV. In addition, participants will become part of the OperUs community of artists for which they may be called back for paid performance opportunities in the 2025 OperUs Summer Season of events. Lastly, as part of the professional development aspect of the program, they will all participate in personal branding and music marketing seminars as well as a professional photoshoot, and a professional video will be made of the final performance.

- Are there any age limits to apply?

Applications are open to all over-18s and there is no upper age limit.

- At which stage of my studies/career should I apply for the opera studio?

OperUs believes in measuring applicants by the merit of their performance, without prejudice in favour of particular age groups or educational stages. We welcome applications from current and prospective university and conservatoire students, graduates and early-career professionals.

- Which airports are closest?

Trieste is well served by a variety of nearby airports. The closest is Trieste Airport, just a short train ride away (28 minutes ride). Other possibilities include Venice Marco Polo (direct bus to Trieste from outside the airport about 1.5h drive), Venice Treviso, Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Verona.
