G.F. Händel

Alcina

OperUs is proud to have hosted our fourth summer Opera Studio: Alcina 2025 through a unique program of blended learning: ten days' online lessons and role preparation and then ten days' in person rehearsals, masterclasses and performance in the beautiful maritime city of Trieste, Italy.

In a first for OperUs, as part of our dedication to upholding ancient tradition and knowledge while embracing innovation and new opportunities for artistic growth, the online portion of the course offered training in Italian language and diction, music branding and marketing, as well as support for each of the participating Young Artists in preparing their roles. We were then delighted to welcome them here to stunning Trieste for an intensive, transformative program of in-person learning and rehearsals.

This year's talented cast of Young Artists trained and rehearsed under the guidance of our expert coaches, with a final debut in performance at the Teatro Dei Fabbri in the city of Trieste, Italy. The Opera Studio was tailored to offer a supportive and instructive environment for them to develop and hone their debut performance and experience a professional standard rehearsal process alongside fellow young artists.

MAITE BEAUMONT

We were thrilled to welcome the star guest teacher for this year's exclusive cast masterclass: internationally acclaimed mezzosoprano Maite Beaumont! Particularly acclaimed for her work in the Handelian repertoire, Ms. Beaumont is one of the most celebrated interpreters of the role of Ruggiero in Alcina for the current generation. She led an incredible, insightful three-day masterclass emphasising the refinement of vocal technique and musical interpretation, invaluable for all our participating young artists as they prepared their roles.
